Shoemaker was a private during the Civil War from 1862-1865.  At one time he was a hotelkeeper and later entered the real estate business.  By 1920, James K.P. 3. Josiah Donner Shoemaker was born 22 May 1847 in Somerset County, PA.  He is not listed in the 1850 census, so we assume that he died young.
